Matt's Personality:
I'm Mattie and I'm an old timer here at ACS. I look forward to my daily walks and am a sucker for treats! My favorite trick is sitting up and pawing because no one can resist giving me a treat for that. I am very laid back but would do best in a home with adults and possibly another dog my size. Even though I am a small dog I would prefer to jump on your lap myself instead of being picked up but once I'm there I want to be pet for hours! If you think you can be my retirement home then please come visit me at ACS!
Requirements:
The adopter must understand Matts resource guarding and handling issues and understand how to work with this behavior. A minimum of 3 visits to the shelter is required where you will spend time with him, the staff who works the closest with him, and the Director of Enrichment and Behavior and/or our Behaviorist. This requirement is important to ensure that Matt has the safest and most successful adoption possible. It is crucial to understand the correct way of handling this behavior to avoid any situations where a bite may happen. Matt will need continued behavior modification which could ultimately help him learn to feel comfortable with allowing people pet him and/ or brush him.
