Colby's Personality:

Hello everyone my name is Colby. I have been at ACS for a couple long years. I would do best in a house with no children. I am possessive over my toys and food and need an experienced owner that can understand me. Besides that I am a very smart boy that knows many commands and learns very quickly. I am in a play group with a couple other dogs and do very well. I like their company and get along well with them. I am said to like going to the dog park and enjoy long car rides. I love my daily walks and am very good on the leash. I also do well with cats! If you are the experienced owner I'm looking for please come up and give me a visit.

Requirements:

The adopter must understand Colby’s advanced resource guarding and understand how to work with this behavior. A minimum of 6 visits to the shelter is required where you will spend time with him, the staff who works the closest with him, and the Director of Enrichment and Behavior and/or our Behaviorist. This requirement is important to ensure that Colby has the safest and most successful adoption possible. Colby’s resource guarding extends to his area, toys, food, or anything he feels is his. It is crucial to understand the correct way of handling this behavior to avoid his aggression over novelty items. Colby will need continued behavior modification which could ultimately help him learn to feel comfortable with having people around his favorite items.

If you are interested in Colby, meet the requirements, and are willing to take the time to get to know him please contact Animal Care Sanctuary at 570-596-2200.
