Axel's Personality:

Axel can only be described as a big loveable lug. He is an

oversized Dalmatian mix who loves to play fetch and do

just about anything outdoors. He walks well on a harness,

and as a result he is a pleasure to take out and about. Axel

would prefer only human companionship in his future home.

Axel is very smart knowing many commands even doing agility

in the yard.  Axel is a laid back kind of guy who loves to play fetch and

perform a variety of tricks! He loves working for treats and

will even do agility! He is an all-time favorite pup at the shelter.

He loves attention and does best in a situation where he feels comfortable.  If your life is lacking the companionship of a big loveable lug then come spend some time Axel and see if he might be the guy for you!

Requirements:

The adopter must understand Axel’s stranger issues and understand how to work with this behavior. A minimum of 5 visits to the shelter is required where you will spend time with him, the staff who works the closest with him, and the Director of Enrichment and Behavior and/or our Behaviorist. This requirement is important to ensure that Axel has the safest and most successful adoption possible. With many dogs who exhibit a fear of new people, it is crucial to understand the correct way of introducing people he doesn’t know and/or managing the environment to avoid any unwanted introductions. Axel will need continued behavior modification which could ultimately help him overcome his fear of strangers.

If you are interested in Axel, meet the requirements, and are willing to take the time to get to know him please contact Animal Care Sanctuary at 570-596-2200.
