Jonas's Personality:
Jonas has been at ACS for quite some time now. Because of his issues with strangers and children, we cannot place Jonas in a home with children or with anyone not willing to work through his fear issues with strangers. Jonas would do best in a home with 1-2 adults. He does enjoy his walks at ACS and has bonded with a few of our staff here. He has great potential to be a super companion for someone but must not be placed where his needs will not be fully understood. Patience and understanding is a MUST.
Requirements:
The adopter must understand Jonas’s resource guarding and handling issues and understand how to work with this behavior. A minimum of 5 visits to the shelter is required where you will spend time with him, the staff who works the closest with him, and the Director of Enrichment and Behavior and/or our Behaviorist. This requirement is important to ensure that Jonas has the safest and most successful adoption possible. It is crucial to understand the correct way of handling this behavior to avoid any situations where a bite may happen. Jonas will need continued behavior modification which could ultimately help him learn to feel comfortable with allowing people pet him and/ or brush him.
